Boliden expands container volume via Helsingborg

The shuttle service between Rönnskär and Helsingborg has been an established supply chain since 1993. With Dalshult as a new partner at the Port of Helsingborg, Boliden is expanding the container volume with a customer-specific product. The product will be shipped out from the port weekly after the cargo has been stuffed with proper lashing into containers.

At Dalshult, the reception of the new container volume is met with enthusiasm as it will employ two people full-time, with approximately 40 containers to be loaded each week. The metal destined for overseas destinations is heavy and custom-sized, requiring precise loading into each container. To withstand rough seas and ensure balance onboard, nothing is left at chance. MariTerm, a cargo securing specialist, has worked closely with Dalshult and developed a special lashing tailored to the product’s loading requirements.

”Boliden’s expansion with an entirely new container flow within the existing logistics chain creates stability for our operations and strengthens our position in port logistics,” says Thomas Pålsson, Production Manager at Dalshult.

Boliden aims to be the world’s most sustainable and respected metal supplier. Much of the company’s total export volumes from Sweden are transported via Helsingborg.

”It was important for us to establish a new partnership with Dalshult when they took over the logistics operations at the port. Helsingborg is a key destination for us with a well-established setup via the shuttle service,” says Jan Astlin, Sr Sourcing Manager Logistics at Boliden.
